I read Rodney Hide's response to Steve's letter suggesting that binding referenda should be available to the public in respect to local government. Going by his reply Rodney seems to have become another typical run-of-the-mill politician. He doesn't say a yes or no, but just hedges about the place. Bill Daly

Unfortunately a lot of what you say is true Bill. When in opposition, they speak a different language, when in power they pay lip service to the people.

As Russell Cooper, former Premier of Queensland said, "Therefore, all of us in politics need reminding from time to time of what the majority really wants. If
we can be reminded in a way that, however uncomfortable it might be from a policy and philosophy
perspective, doesn't mean we will lose our seats and the chance to mend our ways, we should welcome
it with open arms."
