Bern, 29.08.2012 -- The
Swiss government (Bundesrat) has approved the requests of twelve Cantons (regions) to
use electronic voting in the federal (countrywide) referendum-ballot in
November 2012. Around 164,000 citizens will be enabled to vote via Internet.
All of these twelve Cantons have already successfully conducted trials of
electronic voting.
